The PGA Jr League Road to Regionals
Patriot 128 Tops 495 League to Claim the Title
It was an amazing couple of days here at Atkinson Resort and Country Club for the 2018 PGA Jr. League New England Section Championship. 29 Jr League Teams from across New England came to New Hampshire to showcase their skills and compete as a group. After Tuesdays qualifying round, four teams returned this morning to play in the semi-final round.
Central MA #1 played against 495 League and Patriot 128 battled it out against Barnstable County. The format was 9-hole match play scramble and each team had four groups go head to head. After a morning of tough competition only the top two teams remained and had a chance to compete in the midafternoon Championship Final. The Patriot 128 team was able to move on with a 7.5 to 4.5 victory and was excited to head back out to the first tee. Going up against Patriot was 495 League who snuck out a great one-point victory in the morning, 6.5-5.5.
It was a battle of the roadways as teams 128 and 495 went back out to tee #1 to play for a chance to call themselves 2018 PGA Jr League New England Section Champions. The winner would secure a spot in the PGA Jr League Regional Championship in Watertown, Connecticut. Neither team would go home empty handed as the runner up was guaranteed an at-large bid to the Regional Final thanks to New England having a total of 51 Jr Leagues, the most in the country.
